Hey all - it’s been a terribly busy season of fishing. Busy - but in a very good way. I’ve been on the water a LOT this year. The kayak has been neglected, the waders have been neglected, the trout gear has been neglected. I’ve put a lot of my time this year into my new Stealthcraft drift-boat raft (Hooligan).
This video below is a great compilation of the fun times that we had this year on the river. Please give it a look. You won’t be disappointed.
This raft has taken me everywhere this summer and I’ve loved every minute of it. It’s been a super stable fishing and guiding platform that has not left me wanting for anything more. I have not counted up my trips this year, but I believe I was on the raft on fishing trips around 40+ times. That’s 40 different days on the water. As I generally only fish June, July, and August - that is a huge chunk of the summer rowing myself and others around.
Fishing has been good - guiding has been good - life has been good. I’ve had a ton of fun meeting all sorts of new people - new clients - new friends - and new memories. It’s been an awesome ride.
I am currently thinking about the best moments from this year - I think it might be taking out a couple from Maryland and watching them absolutely dominate the topwater bite for smallmouth and pike. At one point my client cast 4 times in a row and caught a smallmouth on every single cast. Definitely a moment worthy of remembrance!
Another highlight was picking up a bunch of clients’ first ever muskies - be it on the fly or spinning gear. A musky first is a huge success and starts the addiction!
I had an incredible time and can’t wait to take out more clients next spring, summer, and fall. If you’re interested in a trip fishing for smallies, muskies, pike, and walleyes then I am the right guy for you. The adventure we have is real and it’s such a treat to show tourists the joy that is the wilderness of the Upper Peninsula.

As always.

Release.
Wander.
C'est la vie.
Pura vida.
Carpe diem.
